Black Tattoo Anthology stands as a beacon of empowerment and economic transformation within the realm of creativity and culture.
As a Black-owned, woman-led non-profit - forged by a community of creatives, entrepreneurs and philanthropists - we are deeply rooted in our mission to uplift Black creatives and entrepreneurs, recognizing the systemic barriers they face in order to effectively activate a theory of change.
Our organization’s theory of change architecture is a multifaceted approach, which is why BTA is built upon three pillars: artistry, entrepreneurship, and cultural/historical preservation.
At the heart of our endeavor lies a commitment to providing comprehensive support to Black creatives and entrepreneurs.
Through collective, social, and digital media marketing strategies, we equip individuals with the tools they need to thrive economically, irrespective of their background or resources.
Our ethos centers on redefining equity in entrepreneurship, carving out spaces where diverse voices are not only welcomed but celebrated.
Together, we uncover the unique challenges faced by Black creatives in accessing resources and opportunities, discuss tokenism affecting their credibility, and challenge discrepancies in grant access due to racial biases in order to create our own table rather than force a seat at someone else’s table.
We built different 'round these parts.
Our unique Board of Directors are the auntie muva's of the BTA village.
Master Tattoo Artist, Dark-skin Tattoo Expert, Trauma-informed Tattoo Specialist, Life Coach. Lifestyle Influencer. Black Creative Entrepreneurship Thought Leader. Personal Brand Betty. Curator of Culture. Anthropological Alchemist. And Ifá Onifa ‘bout dat Isese life.
While these are just a few of the bold titles Imani K Brown is known by, a more fitting description might simply be: Magical.
Founder of Little INKPLAY Shop + its brand family known from DC to Japan Imani knows how difficult things can get for Black creatives who are simply trying to establish their brands. Her inspiration for founding this non-profit comes from her own observations, struggles and setbacks with her bootstrapped startup. Over time, she merged her business acumen and creative process into an accessible framework, the Y.U.M.E methodology to help creatives get solid footing in the world of entrepreneurship and build lucratively AND sustainably.
A fearless innovator and expert in social selling, artist development, and cultivating culture, Imani is well-versed on how to use timeless strategies and methods to exalt creatives as authentic leaders and icons in a seemingly over-crowded marketplace.
Here at BTA, trust when she say 'I got'chu boo'!
